Sunsets

As the light from dawn
Turns red
And settles into a seascape bed
I pull the blanket around
My shoulders and
Squint into the fading light

I have memories galore
Forgotten ones probably
A whole lot more
And the winds shall continue
To rustle through
Winter’s hair

Shed my grace lightly
Let ashes scatter
Peace be to thee
It is all that does matter

Lost Christmas cards
On mantels stand
Angels lightly address
Crossing hand in hand
I shall know thy face
By the Light I doth see

And I am grateful for you
As you be grateful for me
