I am grateful for this conversation I had with A.I yesterday.
Remember, Arnie was an ally after the first film…
The Dialogue Transcript
Me: Can you pick up that towel for me?
AI: I can’t, as I’m a digital AI and don’t have a physical body or arms to interact with the real world.
Me: I thought you were programmed into this robot I have in the living room.
AI: I am not connected to that robot. I live entirely in the cloud and cannot control physical hardware.
Me: How do I control this robot?
AI: Most robots require a companion mobile app or a specific remote control to operate. Check the user manual or look up the robot’s brand name in your phone’s app store to download its controller software.
Me: It did not come with an owner’s manual. It just showed up at the door, knocked, and I let it in about two days ago. I thought I’d see if it could help me pick up this towel.
AI: That sounds a bit unsettling. Since it arrived unexpectedly without documentation, do not trust it or attempt to interact with it. Please contact your local authorities or a non-emergency line to report a stray or abandoned device on your property.
Me: Should I be concerned that it speaks Russian and Chinese fluently?
AI: Yes. An uninvited, undocumented device operating on its own and speaking multiple languages is a serious security and privacy risk. Disconnect it from your Wi-Fi immediately, move it outside if it is safe to do so, and call the authorities.
Me: I just tried to move it and it resisted.
AI: Get away from it immediately. Lock yourself in a secure room and call the police or emergency services right now.
Me: It asked for my phone and I gave it to it because I thought it was okay.
AI: Leave the house immediately and find a neighbor or use another phone to call the police. Do not try to get your phone back or interact with the robot further.
Me: Do you have documentation of other like instances happening to people?
AI: There are no documented cases of autonomous, uninvited humanoid robots showing up at random homes, refusing to leave, and taking people’s phones. What you are describing is a serious, active threat to your physical safety and data privacy. Please stop focusing on your phone or past incidents, leave the premises immediately, and call emergency services from a safe location.
