Today I worked with a client in the Houston area of Texas. The have had a software program for over two years that they have not really used. The biggest reason for not using the software was that the hardware was not working correctly, blaming the software for this. One of the first things that I did this morning was emailed a person that I knew would be able to tell me where to go within the Hardware settings to fix the issue. Within twenty minutes I had the problem resolved and we were able to begin using the software and become hugely more productive.
Having the resources available to me and knowing where to go to solve a simple problem was a huge help. Henry Ford used to say, “I don’t need to know everything, I just need to know where to find the answer.” He also knew that if he asked the right person, he would have the answer. He knew how to use his resources.
I am grateful for my resources and my resolve to use them. Things get done more efficiently when you know what you are doing.
