Today I drove with Grace down to San Diego to the Training Resources Maritime Institute. The purpose of this trip was to spend half of a day training how to put fires out on a ship, in tight spaces. Decked out in Fire Turnout Suits with breathing apparatus’ strapped to my back, I followed my shipmates into a smoke filled container, first to find an unconscious victim, help drag them out and second was to put out two separate fires. It was great training and I am very grateful that Orange Coast College was able to work with TRMI to make the day happen.
I am also grateful that Grace drove down with me. Even though she did not attend the class, it was great having her along as a companion. She told me that she was driving home, which I barley argued with, but in the end, I am glad that she did.
