This week the neighbors of the school that I work at will tell you that silence is golden. This past week I have received more phone calls regarding the construction noise than I have ever received in the year and a half that I have been working at this school. I informed our contractor that I needed it to stop, yesterday, at noon; no later. At 11:47 yesterday morning the construction noise stopped. I did not receive any phone calls or emails thanking me from our neighbors, but I did receive a text from the Executive Assistant to our Head of School, thanking me for the silence.
Yesterday evening I came home from work, warmed up some food for dinner, craweled into a comfortable bed and fell fast asleep. There really was no loud noise that could wake me up. I slept a good ten hours, waking up once, briefly, and falling back asleep.
It may be short lived, but I am so grateful that the construction noise is silenced, for now.
