Today I am donating blood platelettes; a two and half hour process that I do not mind enduring, at least once a month. Unlike whole blood you can donate platelettes every seven days. The last time I donated was two weeks ago. Platelette donation is used to help cancer patients; I don’t know how, but that is what I am told.

Today I am grateful that I am healthy enough to donate both whole blood and platelettes. I am not donating any whole blood until September 29th, at a blood drive at the Shoreline Yacht Club of Long Beach, because you can only donate whole blood every eight weeks and I promised the Commodore at SYCLB that I would participate and donate at her blood drive.
