Three weeks ago, I was bored, sitting in my hotel room in the Seattle area.  I decided to look up Catholic churches by my hotel; for some reason I was in the mood to go to church.  I am not a very religious man; I have not been to church or a temple in at least seven years, except for someone else’s celebration. So I do not know why I felt like going to church.

One of the churches that was close to me was St. Philomena Parish; so I attended their 10:30 Mass. I have attended every Sunday since. It is not because I am a devote Catholic. I was raised in a house with a father who was raised and practiced the Jewish faith; and my mother was raised and practiced the Catholic faith. I have studied and been confirmed in both. I believe more in science than anything else.

St. Philomena’s Pastor is such a great person! His sermons are perfect for what is going on around us in our lives and he greets everyone, giving high fives to the children as he is walking down the aisle. He exudes a feeling of welcome and community! He inspires me to want to help make this world a better place.

I am grateful for the creator pointing me to his parish. I am grateful for the reminder that we were placed on this earth to help one another; make this world a better place to live. I am grateful for the love that surrounds me!
