Last night Cole had a rough one. He wasn’t able to oxiginate his body sufficiently, part of the reason is he can’t quite inhale and exhale to full capacity. He is also having trouble regulating his temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure. The breathing and other issues are deficits due to the trauma to the brain stem and/or cerebellum. Consequently, he had to be re-intubated this morning. He currently has pneumonia which of course is being addressed. It is now 6p.m. and Cole is just now trying to relax.

So, what does all this mean? It means Cole is very fragile. It is better for him to have a calm room so we have had to limit visitors in his actual room, but welcome them out in the family waiting area. Please know you are welcome to come to the hospital anytime. Having friends and family nearby is a comfort for us.

Remember, this is a long journey we have just begun. It won’t be a quick fix. You all are our blessing! -Rivka

p.s. I am pretty tired, so please be patient if I take a while to call or text back…talking can wear me out, especially because I am sleeping at the hospital. Thanks.

Psalm 121
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shallnot smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
